our roots

Chelan Valley Botanicals grew out of a desire to live more simply and share the bounty of the land with our community. Our family of four escaped the city with a vision of growing fruit, vegetables and medicinal herbs for Barbara’s growing business, J Gecko Herbals.

That vision slowly changed and matured into an effort to continue the business and Barbara’s hard work by connecting the world to the magic of the Chelan Valley. With roots in beautiful Manson, Washington Chelan Valley Botanicals is a family-owned and operated skincare and aromatherapy line that crafts products that are an intrinsic part of our care for the land, care for humanity and sharing of the bounty the Earth freely gives.

J Gecko Herbals arose from a need to get healthy and to get back to the real world. It was the quiet certitude that plants offer us that enticed Barbara away from the corporate rat race and into the realm of medicinal herbs. The plants were her allies and had answers to questions that modern medicine didn’t even seem to be asking.

The journey to be more grounded and less busy led her to Manson and out of a hobby, slowly a business was born. Over the years J Gecko grew in reputation and breadth of products and eventually people came to depend on Barbara and the things she makes.

She found herself needing to hand the business off or risk disappointing her loyal customers by vanishing into retirement. To avert this, Seth and Katie are proud to carry on the legacy of Seth’s mother Barbara and continue to craft the quality skincare and aromatherapy products the community of the Chelan Valley (and beyond) have grown to love and depend on.
